I remember back then people saying Mysteries of the Sith was an amazing expansion so I had high hopes and I wasn’t disappointed. First of all, it basically does a Raiden three years before MGS2, sending away the main character after two missions and having you control someone who, if you didn’t read the novels or comicbooks, is a complete unknown. Apart from that, it’s huge, it’s got a sensibly different game design from Jedi Knight with long and complex missions, and the maps are huge, open, full of characters and interesting systems. In the context of the time, it kinda feels like a preview of the Far Cry-style FPS. It kinda has the Deus Ex level design while still being a pure action game. Plus, as usual, the Star Wars vibe is amazingly reproduced and there’s a commendable effort to make you use the jedi powers and the lightsaber, especially considering you could play most of Jedi Knight as a pure FPS. My only minor complaint is about ditching the FMVs for the much worse in-engine cutscenes.
