That was a quick one! I liked it and am happy with my time spent.

The targets proved repetitive with their limited animations and wavelike tactics, most likely made worse from the "Challenging" difficulty. The targets proved repetitive with their limited animations and wavelike tactics, most likely made worse from the "Challenging" difficulty. The foundation of Half Life was pointed in a Trek direction, while most weapons feeling core 90's in variety but not function, supporting desired playstyle I suppose.

Some of the writing is contradictory.

  • Fellow crewmen shout "MOVE it!" or "Get out of my way!" when the player is bumps them. That doesn't not feel like trek at all.
  • An early mission shows Tuvok admonish the main character for not acting impulsively to save the mission and then commends the main character for doing so at the end.
  • Seven of Nine claims the enemy is after 'conquest' not like the borg who are aiming for "perfection''. The final boss claims it is after both by word.

All in all, a fun outing in step with the tv show. Its clear why as sequel was made but I wont Voyage out for it.

Beamed up into this today.

It's been a while since I've watched Voyager, but remember it fondly as my first regular Trek exposure. (TNG seemed too old for my youthful [ignorant] perspective at the time.)

Beamed up into this today.

It's been a while since I've watched Voyager, but remember it fondly as my first regular Trek exposure. (TNG seemed too old for my youthful [ignorant] perspective at the time.)

Traversing the bridge, medical bay and teleportation room in full 3D has been a new experience with visual familiarity, bolstered by the presence of all the actors v/o and now dated polygonal art. It makes for a cozy head space - somehow reminding me of being out of school from xmas holidays.

Bugs early on have caused some concern. Customizing controls seem to lock out the ability to shoot. Hitting Esc would hard quit to the main menu instead of pause. A forum quick fix, solved both but left my female avatar equipped with the male V/O. It provided a laugh and a moment of unintended roleplay - It is the 24th century after all.

Looking forward to the rest of the adventure. It shows some age but holds up well. The opening credits stirred me, just as every episode of trek aims to.

A little worse for wear but still excellent after all these years

Enjoyed

  • The concept seems like it could be its own television show - focus on the away team on a ship - similar to what has been done to great success with lower decks
  • Right off the bat allows you to select your gender for Munro. Highly unusual for a shooter in 2000 -Feels very much like an interactive Star …

  • Right off the bat allows you to select your gender for Munro. Highly unusual for a shooter in 2000 -Feels very much like an interactive Star Trek Voyager episode. Everything from the models to the sound designer and licensing the likenesses of known characters, they did a stellar job -Heavily scripted in mission story telling similar to Half-Life. Each away mission is connected by time back on the away team operations deck where you complete the ritual of resting, being briefed on the next mission and gathering your equipment for the next. There are simple puzzles and fun pieces of dialog that make these missions between missions fun

Disliked

  • The weakest part of the game is the simplicity in the action. Even compared to some contemporaries (Half-Life and Halo) there is little to no enemy AI and every level, apart from a well executed stealth mission, feels like a shooting gallery

In conclusion

  • For any nostalgic players, you're likely already playing this with the same mixed feelings I am. For any newcomers I would highly recommend this for any fans of 90s star trek and objective based story shooters in the vein of half-life

Only took me a couple days to finish, but I had fun!

I have always wanted to finish this Star Trek game ever since I was a kid. Well, I finally got around to it. I think I have tried to finish this game in the past but ended up getting bored.

I have always wanted to finish this Star Trek game ever since I was a kid. Well, I finally got around to it. I think I have tried to finish this game in the past but ended up getting bored.

The combat can slog at times and is pretty easy. The music is fun, graphics are pretty good for the era. Killing and fighting the borg is the best.

I enjoyed the story, though it felt a bit more like a video game at times then a Star Trek Voyager TV episode.

I would recommend this game to any fans of Star Trek. I'm not sure how easy the game is to find, but you can obtain it pretty easily.
