That was a quick one! I liked it and am happy with my time spent.

The targets proved repetitive with their limited animations and wavelike tactics, most likely made worse from the "Challenging" difficulty. The foundation of Half Life was pointed in a Trek direction, while most weapons feeling core 90's in variety but not function, supporting desired playstyle I suppose.

Some of the writing is contradictory.

  • Fellow crewmen shout "MOVE it!" or "Get out of my way!" when the player is bumps them. That doesn't not feel like trek at all.
  • An early mission shows Tuvok admonish the main character for not acting impulsively to save the mission and then commends the main character for doing so at the end.
  • Seven of Nine claims the enemy is after 'conquest' not like the borg who are aiming for "perfection''. The final boss claims it is after both by word.

All in all, a fun outing in step with the tv show. Its clear why as sequel was made but I wont Voyage out for it.

Beamed up into this today.

It's been a while since I've watched Voyager, but remember it fondly as my first regular Trek exposure. (TNG seemed too old for my youthful [ignorant] perspective at the time.)

Traversing the bridge, medical bay and teleportation room in full 3D has been a new experience with visual familiarity, bolstered by the presence of all the actors v/o and now dated polygonal art. It makes for a cozy head space - somehow reminding me of being out of school from xmas holidays.

Bugs early on have caused some concern. Customizing controls seem to lock out the ability to shoot. Hitting Esc would hard quit to the main menu instead of pause. A forum quick fix, solved both but left my female avatar equipped with the male V/O. It provided a laugh and a moment of unintended roleplay - It is the 24th century after all.

Looking forward to the rest of the adventure. It shows some age but holds up well. The opening credits stirred me, just as every episode of trek aims to.
