So I wasn't following the release of this at all, but decided to snag it on release day when I saw it on here. I've sunk a few hours into it, and that's about all you need to get a feel for what the game is.
The roster is decent. They've got to have some DLC planned. We've got Aang, Korra, and Toph, but no Zuko, or even Katara? We've got two of the TMNT (Leo and Mikey) but not the other two? Also, there are just a lot of other Nick characters that they could totally be using from other shows that weren't included at all.
There aren't any items or any really big, fancy attacks, but they did a good job of including well-known traits/scenes as moves (Patrick slamming the phone down, Patrick in the ice cream cone, SpongeBob's "imaginaaaation" rainbow, etc.). I like this attention to detail, but I hope it all gets scaled up and a little more chaotic eventually. (Sidenote: I did notice, while playing with Aang last night, that when his percentage hit red/around 80%, his normal B attack turned into a swirl of all four elements around him that hits pretty hard. I wouldn't call it the Avatar State, but noting it because I'll have to see if everyone has a "desperation" move like that.)
The music is actually pretty solid. Most of the stages have some good jams. The stages themselves are nice. Good combination of open stages and ones with more obstacles/platforms. Hopefully more of these will be added too.
The arcade is very straightforward: battle several characters in a row, sometimes choosing between two to fight. There aren't any minigames or anything in between stages. You unlock music for the jukebox and pictures for the gallery. I've only completed it with Aang, so I only have a few that are Avatar/Aang-related unlocked.
Overall, it plays pretty smoothly and it's a good throwback party game to enjoy with friends or alone. I do hope they expand the roster and maps, though.
