Fun demo. Switching between a melee and mage class mid-combo feels cool. The whole job and skill tree system is nice, sort of takes what Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order did to simplify Souls-likes away from leveling raw stats, but expands it back out a bit to offer some more gameplay variance. They even got something almost like Doom’s glory kill mechanic in here (though not nearly as cool), plus customizable melee combos, an action-friendly adaptation of the usual main series spell system, and a loot system that felt more Diablo than Souls to me. Square-Enix is definitely taking a lot of notes from the rest of the industry and trying to make something unique for the series here. Looking forward to seeing how the final product shapes up.

This doesn’t feel like it’s for me. The combat is perfectly fine but I don’t find it compelling enough to sell me on the rest of the game which feels like an aesthetic cross between Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry. This game feels like it rode in on the angst train about a decade and a half too late.

Went to try the demo and couldn't find it, so did some Googling. "The game will be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. Unfortunately, however, the demo will only be available on PlayStation 5."

So if it'll be on PS4, why can't I play the demo (and offer feedback...) on a PS4? 🙄🙄🙄🙄
