So GameStop decided to charge me for a cancelled preorder of FFVII Rebirth. The base edition I ordered, and then cancelled months ago because I ordered the Deluxe edition elsewhere. So I guess this is how they are trying to stay afloat, by charging people for cancelled orders. Wankers.

I took the day off work today to play Rebirth as much as possible, and managed to clock in 10 hours of playing! The majority of that time was spent chasing objectives in the Grasslands region, and I estimate I've done 80% of the content there before I decided to proceed with the main story. Now I finally reached the Junon region, so I figured it's a good stopping point for the day.
Absolutely loving the game so far. The world is very dense with objectives, and while there are some repeating ones such as Ubitowers and combat challenges against unique enemies, everything feels super organic and compelling. It hasn't felt like too much yet either, and in fact, I felt like it maybe could have given me MORE Queen's Blood opponents to play against in the region. The battle system was good in Remake, but the inclusion of the synergy and folio systems really elevate it to the next level.
Yet to see if the side content in the other regions is as addictive to tackle as it was in the Grasslands, but if it is, hoo boy I may have a problem here. Might have to kiss every other video game/hobby/social interaction goodbye for a few weeks.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Demo Gets Bigger And Prettier Tomorrow Morning
On February 21, along with an update that adds a new playable section (a portion of the Junon open-world area), Square Enix aims to improve the game’s visuals. In a post on X, the developer said players should expect “improvement of image quality when selecting ‘Performance’ in the screen mode of the graphics settings” and that this change will also be reflected in the full version of the game on February 29, 2024. The updated demo will be available at 7 a.m. ET on February 21.

I was just about to boot up the demo, but then I realized this launches in just under three weeks. I think I’m going to try to hold out. If we were months away I’d give it a run through, but I don’t know that I want to complete the same slice twice in such a short span of time.
