Big F to the legendary VR missions! This is like Dark Souls level difficulty, without dark souls combat. They completely overdid this on difficulty :D Some of them take like an hour and then you die right at the end, gotta do that whole hour again.... Especially Legendary bout 8 is out of this world on difficulty.

I resubbed to Final Fantasy XIV. I started playing Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden and Pacific Drive.
When Rebirth came out, I said to myself, I will be back no those games within a week. How wrong I was.
80 hours into the game and still got three chapters to go!

This is definitely my favorite game of all time, and I wouldn't be surprised if it stays that way until I'm on my deathbed. It'd be really hard to put into words why I love this game so much and why FF7 means so much to me so I won't bother. There were so many moments that made me so ecstatic, like the parade segment or Cosmo Canyon and a bunch of spoilery moments. I couldn't believe this game was real the entire time I was playing, and I still can't believe that I actually played this game... I think this is the best game I'll ever play, but I hope part 3 manages to outdo it. My only REAL complaint is the overrepresentation of Chadley. That boy better not be in part 3 yapping the whole time...... Hopefully Cloud accidentally drops and breaks the CHAD module or something. I liked Chadley at the start but he gradually got really frustrating to listen to. Having to skip through his dialogue every time you want to use the combat simulator / buy materia was really annoying. Reminded me of talking to the emerald herald in ds2......

It always amazes me that some people can deeply hate (or indeed love) a game they’ve never played. Reminds me of my cinema students who would form opinions about films based on everything other than a direct viewing. They tended to be quite confidant in their uninformed position, sometimes ever quite angry. and it’s kind of striking how powerful that kind of willful ignorance about a piece of media can be. Not all of them turned around and loved a film after a class screening, but it was always interesting to see those who did renegotiate their position.

I sank 112 hours into it over a 2 week period, and I feel very satisfied now that I have seen everything it offers. There was a lot I loved about this one, a lot I found frustrating at times too, especially in the higher level difficulties. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could, but round it up …
I sank 112 hours into it over a 2 week period, and I feel very satisfied now that I have seen everything it offers. There was a lot I loved about this one, a lot I found frustrating at times too, especially in the higher level difficulties. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could, but round it up just for the scope and scale of it all. Will need to wait for Part 3 to see if it sticks the landing.
Last note: Pleasantly surprised at how funny the game could be at times. Some great moments among the cast that I really appreciated.

Hunting for specific clips from Rebirth on YouTube has led me to realize the English V.O. is deeply painful. It's to be expected from English V.O. for a piece of Japanese media, but it's clear some of these voice actors really weren't given direction that helps them to understand the tone of the game. In particular Roche's English voice actor really misses the boat with his performance.

My god, I loved Yuffie in the original, and she was amazing in INTERmission but damn, she's a beast in this game! She's an absolutely DPS powerhouse with the right setup. And I can't wait to unlock more Materia slots to boost that up some more. God, this game needs to let me designate her as my party leader already!
