Expanded Versions of Hakuoki: Shinsengumi Kitan

Hakuoki Kyoto Wins was one of the otome games that started me in this genre, and now finishing it now I can understand why that was the case. The problem though with this game is it had a quantity over quality a bit. This game has 13 different routes (12 guys + a normal route), and for an otome game that is a bit overkill. For the first couple of routes I did it felt worth it but as you get to the other routes it just a lot of skipping the the first chapters while seeing the new scenes for that route, and it just got a bit too much. The nice thing is repeat playthrough of the other routes takes about I say 4-5 hours due to repeated sections. Though minding that, I enjoyed my time with this game and I can’t wait to play the second half of the series within the next couple of months.
I've played through 4 different routes so far and have been enjoying the game overall. As others have noted, this is only the first half of the story. While all routes I played felt like there was certainly more to the story, two of them were pretty unsatisfying. The other two at least felt like they came to a decent conclusion, with the MC being in a more stable space/declared relationship with the romantic choice. The storyline has been intriguing, and the replay value is good, so I do look forward to playing all the routes, as well as continuing with the next game.
Hoping to have this done within the next week, I on the final couple of routes (Thier 12 guys but there one normal ending so technically 13 routes as a whole), then I think I go onto Edo Blossoms as I have it installed on PC.
have like 7/13 routes finished in this now (12 guys, + 1 normal ending), and man Otome games really only need 4-6 routes in general. The good thing is these routes get shorter the more you do because you are doing stuff that has been seen. The main reason this is 13 routes is mainly because this is expanded version of the OG so they added more routes but I definitely think there a right amount of routes for an Otome and that 4-6.
Finished up Hajime's best ending, still need to do his other 2 endings then it on to the Heisuke route. I normally would have done more progress but was in a Kuro mood so decided to make some progress during the day on that.
I finished up Okita route tonight, and started up the Hajime route tonight, I am on school break till the day after memorial day so I'm just focusing on 2 games at the moment Kuro 2. I want just to do 1 but with Kuro 2 I cant do a long session due to it only being in jpn so having this game helps balance it, and I'm not just doing a VN, I'm doing a vn/rpg hybrid
Finished off
I think when I am done with LAD Ishin I will start this over because I want to go back and finish it, I will probably use the otome kitten guide because I use those guides for otome, I am interested to get back into some of the otome that I have on steam.
A visual novel with an interesting story where the protagonist goes looking for her father and meets 12 handsome warriors who will help her. Depending on the choices the player makes, in the end he can end up with one of the warriors. Independent the various choices, I found some warriors backgrounds interesting. However, I think it's a good visual novel to play.
