Dynamic event-based gameplay, a wealth of mechanics that are fun to unravel, and an intense focus on fleshing out its world make King of Dragon Pass well worth a play.
It's not about formulating the most perfect strategies, its about how you respond when those strategies inevitably fail
Come learn the stories of Glorantha... and become a chapter in its history
UI is clearly a mobile port; take a look at the GoG version if your a stickler for that kind of stuff
Its over-reliance on its least random mechanic (Heroquests) means that late-game attempts start to feel samey compared to the excellent events
More reading than playing but the texts are of very good quality. Strategy elements are very deep but the rules are not shown so its best to go on instinct. Reading the manual is strongly recommended, you'll be rewarded for it. One of my favourites! Ideally you should get the iOS/Android version though. Its the "directors cut" and contains slightly more content as well as a superior interface.

Apparently it's a legendary game. I bought it years ago but still haven't played it.
Played for like 4 hours. I never really got what I was supposed to do in this game.
This game is a criminally unappreciated gem. Great world building, tons of depth and player choice in a hybrid RPG/interactive choose-your-own-adventure novel make this a truly unique game that was way ahead of its time. It can be punishingly difficult, especially as a result of some of the quest RNG (kind of a board game feel to that aspect), but there is almost always a way out no matter how big the setback. But you will fail--a lot. That makes it both challenging and very replayable. It is well worth your time and effort. Games play out very differently depending on the choices you make both at the beginning and throughout the story. The game is almost twenty years old, but the format and unique nature of it means it holds up well today. I still occasionally break this one out on long flights or road trips.
