Players move into a living, breathing world inside the Nintendo DS...and then invite their friends to visit from anywhere on earth. In Animal Crossing: Wild World, the sequel to the popular Nintendo GameCube game, players and up to three friends can hang out in the same village and interact in real time -- either through wireless LAN or over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Players can visit a friend's village from thousands of miles away. The touch screen makes item management and world navigation a breeze. Typing letters and designing patterns are now just stylus strokes away. Days and seasons pass in real time, so whether players want to decorate their homes, catch bugs or fish, collect brand-new items like hats and sunglasses or just chat with the wild and wacky characters in their villages, there's always something to do. I love Blathers so much. I will save up as much bells as I can so he can go back to the city and finish his doctorate. I hope in AC for Switch 2 or 4DS or whatever the next console it's releasing for, it'll finally be canonical that he finished his doctorate. I mean, have you seen his #SKILLZ …

I mean, have you seen his #SKILLZ when he identifies a fossil just by looking at it?

Why does Nook even ask you to do marketing for him? He's literally the only convenience store in town. He's basically a monopoly

Personal Favorite Animal Crossing

This game is a significant step up from the GameCube version, though it mostly follows the same structure. It is hard to explain what makes Animal Crossing games so great, but they are simply loads of fun and a game that you can play for a long, long time and not get tired of. Wild Word is the best Animal …

It is hard to explain what makes Animal Crossing games so great, but they are simply loads of fun and a game that you can play for a long, long time and not get tired of. Wild Word is the best Animal Crossing, and also one of the best DS games.

A status not related to any virtual rebellion in 20xx:

I just want to say how much I miss the pelicans in Animal Crossing (;′︵` )
An image of Phyllis the pelican from Animal Crossing: Wild World mocking the player character for having 0 bells. Phyllis: "Your balance is 50 billion Bells! Just kidding! It's actually 0."

Collected all the Mush furniture and got the 2nd floor to my house. Working on paying that awful loan.

Paid off the last loan and I am now getting the second story on my house built. I decided on a grey roof instead of an orange one.

About halfway through to paying off the mortgage on my current house. Focusing on finding all the fossils for the museum.

Pros: wi-fi connectivity [disabled], smaller map reduces tedium of traversing, large number of items available, handheld system makes daily play more accessible

Cons: lacks some features from predecessor (NES games & holidays), limited activities permitted while playing online

Recommendation: as a life simulation game, I believe that including online play is a huge improvement. It was always a pain to visit a friends village in the original Animal Crossing, and Wild World made it much easier. Also, I felt the DS made it easier to play in short bursts, as it could be played anywhere (like the bus). However, now that the online play is no longer possible on the DS or Wii, I'd have to recommend either playing the newest title, or going back to the Gamecube version to enjoy the emulated NES classics.
