Ok so I completed everything in the Code Vein demo. Really enjoyed it, looking forward to playing the full version. Ok so I completed everything in the Code Vein demo. Really enjoyed it, looking forward to playing the full version. Love the game systems; they really give the player a huge range of playstyles to choose from, and you're not locked into any particular one. You can just wear a different blood veil thing and try out ranged/magic/strength/etc. Seems like there's a fair variety of weapons to choose from. I went for a big greatsword thing, and then I would sometimes switch to a rifle for ranged.

I was sceptical about the AI companion but I found that it was actually enjoyable. The AI was pretty clever and they rarely got in the way or got you killed. Nice to have them to revive you also. The AI companion can be disabled entirely, which is great because many people (myself included) complained and wanted that feature, so looks like they added it. Will be quite a challenge to play solo. I liked the fluffy hat ranged girl companion.

The demo includes the first hour of the campaign with a boss, followed by a harder underground dungeon thing (with three more bosses). You can access the hard mode dungeon by talking to the buff dude at the hub. The third boss was very challenging! Good luck, I'd be interested to hear if anyone else manages to 100% the demo.

Right now I'm carefully fine-tuning the ultimate catgirl anime waifu.

New Code Vein demo is out now on PS4 (though not on Steam) will probably check it out tonight. I'm told it's very impressive.

I am really skeptical that this will scratch anyone's Soulsborne itch:

Bandai Namco's 'Prepare to Dine' project is an action RPG called Code Vein

I can't tell whether this is a cool Souls-like action-RPG or not. Apparently it's coming from the devs of God Eater so maybe it's more of a combo based thing. Also, it seems like they're designing the game around 2-player cooperative gameplay, which made me recoil immediately, …

I can't tell whether this is a cool Souls-like action-RPG or not. Apparently it's coming from the devs of God Eater so maybe it's more of a combo based thing. Also, it seems like they're designing the game around 2-player cooperative gameplay, which made me recoil immediately, having unpleasant flashbacks to the awful train wreck of Dead Space 3. Who knows though, could be an alright game.

Last week Bandai Namco teased a new game with a lovely hand-painted trailer and the tagline "Prepare to Dine". Today they officially announce Code Vein, an anime-style post-apocalyptic vampire action RPG that only vaguely resembles the gorgeous animated short that preceded it.
