So I'll be honest, much of my positivity for this Party Pack stems from really just one game on it that I really like, though the rest aren't bad by any means. As I have seen some disappointment online toward that game, this pack may be more hit or miss for some people, but I personally found it a blast.
Usual disclaimers: I'm writing this review after having played a lot of Jackbox already, so I'm often speaking about my impressions in the context of the full release library so far . I generally play over Discord stream with a group of 3 (including me). My rating will mostly be based on a holistic look at the pack based on individual impressions of the different games contained.
Tee K.O. 2
There's not much about this version of Tee K.O. to really differentiate it from the original. Most of the sequel is just a touch-up of the prior version with a few tweaks in the rules. There's not much about this version of Tee K.O. to really differentiate it from the original. Most of the sequel is just a touch-up of the prior version with a few tweaks in the rules. For one, the default timers are significantly more generous, which I'd consider a plus, allowing you more time to be creative and embellish your drawings more. Also new is a tweak in later rounds that allows you to take another drawing from a previous round and add to it or change it up. Other improvements include things like a better drawing pad with more options and flashier graphics, amusingly incorporating many iconic Jackbox characters. If you don't like the original Tee K.O., I really doubt you'll get much out of this one unless your specific gripe was with one of the things they've improved like the timers. If you already are a fan of the original, while this doesn't bring too much totally new to the table, it is a welcome update for a game that came out a good 7 years ago.
Fixytext
This is the weakest game of the pack to me and my group. In Fixytext, you are trying to help the host reply to text messages, after selecting the scenario from a range of options. You will get the start of a reply text message and are able to click in and edit the text to say what you want. However, everyone on your team will also have access to the same text and will be editing it in real time. While this allows you to divide and conquer, often two people will have different ideas of where to go with the text and it may not flow right or at times they may accidentally click onto the same spot to edit, causing plenty of chaos. We did have a few laughs during this game, but didn't ultimately feel the need to replay it after our initial go. It might work better with more players.
Timejinx
This is the trivia game of this pack and while it's nothing too spectacular, it's a pretty fun one. The whole game is themed around a time machine concept and the questions will often be of the form "when did X occur," generally picking events that are familiar, but not obvious, such as when a certain commercial was first aired or when a song released, or when certain technology was invented. There are a few special rounds that work a bit differently, but keep the theme focused on the time concept. We've really enjoyed this game and in my experience, even people who generally don't do well with dates tend to do fine at the kinds of questions asked. It's not our favorite trivia game but it's always fun for a quick game.
Hypnotorious
This is a strange game that even after playing it a few times now, I'm not sure I totally understand the points system or what the strategy is even supposed to be. Each player is given a certain identity, often of a pop culture figure or celebrity (you can re-draw once, in case you get someone you just know nothing about). You are then tasked with answering odd questions in-character in a way that is accurate, but doesn't totally give away who you are. After each round, the players can attempt to sort themselves into two groups, keeping one person in the out-group (the number of outsiders probably changes based on player count) for who seems to be in a different category. You'll also get hints about the classifications gradually each round. At the end of three rounds of this, everyone has a chance to pick who the outsider is. It's sort of like the whole Among Us concept but with character questionnaires. The game is interesting and weird and the ability to generate your answers in an interesting way is pretty fun, but as I said, I still feel a little confused on how you're supposed to be trying to play and it's unclear to me how the points work. Also just to note, this is the one game in the pack that requires 4+ players and since I rarely have a group that large for Jackbox nights, I haven't gotten to try this one as much so maybe I'd like it more with time. I will also say that while I didn't time it, this game feels very long, even with the minimum player count. It's definitely not one you can just squeeze in a quick game of.
Dodo Re Mi
This is my favorite game of the pack and one of my favorite Jackbox games overall right now. The concept is really simple, it's just a group rhythm game for 1-9 players performing a jukebox full of songs from classical pieces to Jackbox's own rather good music. Further, everything is instrumental and has generally been redone in a new wonky style by the person behind the legendary Quixort song. The game itself is pretty straight forward: you select a song, then each person picks an instrument and will then try to play the song together on your devices with an intuitive layout not unlike many other touchscreen rhythm games (at least if you play on mobile as I tend to). The instruments are often quite goofy, featuring "constant screaming" or "alarm clock" alongside more traditional instruments like cello or trumpet. Once everyone's attempted the track, the game will then play everyone's parts together in a little concert your birds are putting on for a carnivorous plant that will eat you if you fail to achieve 5 stars. The game has lots of great features like many unlockable songs with criteria that push you to try out lots of songs and instruments and the different parts for each song have several difficulties, making the game accessible to people who aren't as good as others in the group at rhythm games. While the main criticism I've seen is that Jackbox probably shouldn't try to make a rhythm game as just a little game on the side when people could just play other dedicated rhythm games, I think they did an outstanding job here. At release we found it really addicting and played multiple hours-long sessions of just this game. The casual nature and accessibility I think really bring something to it that a lot of rhythm games just lack when it comes to enjoying them with your friends on a whim.
In conclusion, I think this pack is definitely worth a buy. I will say that 2-3 games carry a couple relatively weaker titles in the pack, so it could be hit or miss for some, but I for one was really happy to see that Jackbox is still putting out consistently fun(ny) games even with its tenth pack. I will caution that at launch, we had a lot of technical issues with the game locking up when loading, but after a few patches, that seems to have cleared up completely.
