A solid addition to the Jackbox library
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

As the latest Jackbox released at the time of this writing (though Pack 10 is due out in 3 weeks), this latest Party Pack shows that Jackbox has still got it. While the pack has somewhat of a sleeper or two, Quixort is especially good and most of the games contained are still pretty fun in their own right.

Usual disclaimers: I'm writing this review after having played a lot of Jackbox already. I generally play over Discord stream with a group of 3 (including me). I've got less experience with games that require more people but have still played them. My rating will mostly be based on a holistic look at the pack based on individual impressions of the different games contained.

Fibbage 4

While 4 is quite the number to hit for putting out new versions of a very similar game, if there's a Jackbox game it makes sense to continuously iterate on, it's the beloved Fibbage. There aren't a ton of changes to the format here, but this version does include a number of quirky video clips and such sent in by staff and fans that are related to the questions (which have a suspicious ratio …

Fibbage 4

While 4 is quite the number to hit for putting out new versions of a very similar game, if there's a Jackbox game it makes sense to continuously iterate on, it's the beloved Fibbage. There aren't a ton of changes to the format here, but this version does include a number of quirky video clips and such sent in by staff and fans that are related to the questions (which have a suspicious ratio of furry-related answers...). This version also contains another version of Fibbage Enough About You and while I personally really enjoy that mode, I prefer Fibbage 3's version with the one truth and a lie final round that was cut from this one.

Non-Sensory

This is probably my second favorite game in the pack. In Non-Sensory, you are given a percentage-based prompt such as "write a book title that is 70% likely to be a fantasy novel." If based on your answer your friends choose 70% (or close to it), you and the person who guessed well get points. There are several variations on this theme, with one of the most hectic ones being in the drawing round where you're asked to draw some really bizarre things, like something that is 40% tuba and 60% bobcat. It's not too hard of a game to wrap your head around and results in a lot of goofy fun throughout. The production is also pretty good with the game being moderated by a cute chimp named Professor Nanners. While it may not be top tier, this is a game worth returning to.

Roomerang

This game requires 4+ players so it's one I haven't played too many times and I don't really recall all of the details super well beyond the general feel of it. In Roomerang, you're on a sort of reality show in which you're assigned a character with particular traits and you need to present answers to prompts that will fit your characteristics while also attracting the other players to vote for you to stay (or to not vote for you to be kicked out). There are a number of variations on how this works but each round, someone will be kicked out of the house after being given a chance to freeform type out their goodbye (usually "hey, fuck you all") before they'll be replaced by a new character bearing a similar name, so no player is totally out of the game until the end. Also interestingly, the points for each round can be discerned a bit by how the votes go, but the game keeps points secret so only your device shows how high your score is, which I found a clever way to prevent people from just trying to vote out whoever's winning since that's not always apparent unless you've paid close attention and have good memory. We definitely enjoyed this game for what it is the few times we've played it with a larger group. It's a goofy concept and has good production. My only real issue is that it doesn't feel like a game that's likely to be that amusing if you are able to play it with regularity.

Junktopia

In this game you're doing a sort of pawn shop flipping process in which you start by buying some item from an array of goofy weird looking shit like a creepy baby doll or a weirdly-designed piece of furniture. You then try to name the item and write a few facts on it to make it more appealing to buyers, which you'll then present to the group who vote on which item they would buy from among the presenters. There's definitely some goofiness to be had here, but it's weirdly a little too freeform to my eyes. While the game gives you the silly items to have to improvise off of, the titles and facts are flexible enough you can do a lot of writing whatever you want, which feels like it misses the fun of Jackbox's typical strategy of sticking you with something awkward you have to work with. While it's not a bad game, it's definitely the weakest of the pack to me.

Quixort

This is easily within the top 10 Jackbox games my group likes to come back to. In Quixort, you are given a prompt of things that can be put in order, though the category won't be fully revealed until after you choose among one category or a randomized mystery prompt, so you think you're going to be ordering "book releases" and after choosing it, you'll realize it's specifically Stephen King novels. The prompts vary wildly from rather easy to so difficult we don't know a the order between any two items. As the game goes on, you will also get extra items to sort that aren't real answers and you have to know which are not proper members of the category and trash them. Your points are based on how well you order the items with bonuses for combos of correctly sequential items. You work in teams to sort, switching between players for each item, which can lead to some funny arguing over the ordering you both think is correct while the block is slowly falling and time is running out (like Tetris). While this isn't a game where you get to do much text input or improvisation, my group tends to love this game a lot. The credits song is also a total banger.

Most of the games in this pack are about average-to-good. Quixort definitely stands out and pushes this pack higher in my estimation, but it's mostly just a pack done generally well rather than being especially exceptional on average. If I were being more specific, this may be more like a 4.5 than a 5 and it's on the lower end of the 5-star Party Packs, but it's still quite good and worth picking up.
