A free RPG Maker game on the Steam storefront that is equal parts cozy, morbid, and emotional.
This game ran great on Steam Deck and provided about two hours of gameplay. The design of the characters were simplistic and cute. The ghosts you battle are quite varied as well. The turn-based combat features QTEs that could make the difference between avoiding damage or a critical hit. The skill tree was also very simple but allowed for some grinding to max out all stats and abilities.
The environments were sparse but I didn't find this a negative as the atmosphere fills up the empty spaces.
The story is linear though there is four different endings. I completed two of them since the other two required some grinding. I may watch the other endings on Youtube so I can experience them.
I recommend this game to those seeking a short experience, simple RPGs, and who like the color purple.
SLAYED
Loved this game! It was not too long (2-3 hours), but it delivered. I always enjoy games that have this combat style (and this game nailed the turn based combat!), and the art style/aesthetic of the game was that perfect pixel graphics that are adorable and nostalgic. I was connected with the story and the characters almost instantly. Kudos to everyone who made this game possible <3
The controls could have done with some tuning in because they were hard to get used, which was almost too much effort for me to go on to finish the game. But alas, I did finish it and I'm glad I did because I think there's something meaningful in the story and it was honestly fun to play. I'll keep an eye up for where this game is going!
