Burnout was a killer arcade driving game, but for a new generation of hardware and connected player Burnout had to become something more ambitious. Closed tracks made way for an expansive, open city, and we seamlessly synced your friends into the action and let you loose on a heap of cool challenges that unsurprisingly rewarded you for driving like a lunatic. Hey, if you haven’t played Burnout Paradise (the original 2008 version), you’re missing out. It’s one of the most fun arcade racing game. The open-world city is huge, the speed feels incredible, and the crashes are just insane in the best way. You can race, explore, or just mess around. Honestly, it was way ahead of its time. Way to ruin this franchise. Not every game needs an open world and racing games most definitely do not need an open world.

Having fun with this on the Switch (after paying $6 on sale) but there are annoying attempts to go online every time it starts up, fortunately they can be clicked past eventually.

City is small and somewhat bland (and literally lifeless but understandable they wanted to avoid people getting hit for the age rating), they should have gone more colorful and possibly outlandish, mixed more architectural styles in. Also a few streets should have more traffic even if it's avoided elsewhere because it would mean constant lower speed collisions (but is that truly bad in a Burnout game?), at least during rush hour.

Is there a 'cause a huge pileup and get a higher score for more damage' minigame anywhere in here?

I know this game came out years ago, but it just released to the Switch and it's my first time ever playing it. Let me tell ya, if EA released more games like this on the Switch, their reputation wouldn't be so negative on the console. This is such a fun game, it's like Grand Theft Auto, racing edition. Let me tell ya, if EA released more games like this on the Switch, their reputation wouldn't be so negative on the console. This is such a fun game, it's like Grand Theft Auto, racing edition. Lots of fun events with a great variety, a ton of cars to collect, a ton of secrets to uncover, and boy, do you feel like you are going FAST in this game! Great soundtrack with a lot of rock tunes from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. I love playing a few races on my TV, or at night going handheld while my family watches TV. Really fun game and runs very well on the Switch.

Just installed the newer "Remastered" version and am trying it out. I can't really tell any difference from the original, and I thought those graphics were fine, but it's been a while. Anyways, hooray for Burnout!

Adding to my year behind gamer catalog, I just picked up burnout paradise remastered for $9 on PS4 on some PS+ discount. This game is amazing and worth way more than $9, but I’m glad I waited around to grab it again.
