Framed 2 is an improvement over its predecessor in several ways.

While the first game had a section of puzzles for each type of mechanic, Framed 2 mixes them up for a steadily entertaining experience. While the first game asked you to experiment with the panels and figure out the consequences, Framed 2's panels are a lot more intuitive. That doesn't make the puzzles easier - they're also harder this time around - but makes the solving process a lot more enjoyable. The panels themselves feel richer and more interactive, contributing to the puzzle aspect.

By improving characterization, Framed 2 manages to tell a more interesting story compared to the first game. There are even a few emotional beats in the story, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the game managed these really well. Framed 2 is a prequel in story terms, and it ties back into the events of the first game. The games are fairly independent though, and you can enjoy one without having played the other.

So that's Framed 2 in a nutshell - a step up from its predecessor and a great puzzler.

A very, very good sequel/prequel, full of new ideas, with a nice story connection to the original game and some really smart level design.
