A Souls game with guns?!! Of course I was going to love it! Now it is almost impossible to understand what you should do and where to go, but who cares! It's hard in a good way (like Souls games are), and I liked the online stuff (I genuinely forgot how fun playing with randoms can be).

Love It

I love this game. I loved the first one it was highly underrated. And the second improved upon it in every way. If you haven't played the first its lovingly called souls-like with guns... or a looter shooter.... mix in some third person adventure game and random generation?

Things that are improved/great:

  • Graphics/details in all of the worlds you travel to are so awesome and very distinct to almost feel like different games
  • Extremely in depth RPG mechanics with an archetype to choose and many items/mods/abilities to equip so you can truly create a unique and powerful build thats personal to you. There are infinite combinations that are viable, seemingly, a huge step up from the first game.
  • There is the ability to change archetypes (classes) or try out a multiclass combination, without creating a new character, you can simply switch on your same character. This is much improved from the first game and lets you experiment with things more readily.
  • Fun and addicting gameplay. A few things were added from the first such as an ability to jump over gaps which is nice
  • The random generation seems to have improved to provide even more options for each world so …

  • Fun and addicting gameplay. A few things were added from the first such as an ability to jump over gaps which is nice
  • The random generation seems to have improved to provide even more options for each world so your playthroughs can have completely different stories.
  • Boss fights have been significantly improved. There are some amazing ones and they've removed the over-reliance on adds which were one of the main complaints of the first game.
  • Ward 13 hub world is easier to navigate than the first game.
  • There is so much loot to collect - but every item you collect has meaning and its own unique usage. There is none of this nonsense i hate in other games where you've got this weapon but now its 134 instead of 78. Each item has a unique usage.
  • Even more secrets than the first game, some so hidden.
  • Good story. Though the main plot is somewhat straightforward but decent (saving the multiverse). however the sub plots of each biome are fascinating, and the lore is rich.
  • Fun co-op. The uniqueness of everyone's builds can lead to awesome co-op fun. You and your buddy's game playthroughs will likely have different dungeons, plots, and stories than your campaign.

Edit: The one negative I really find to this game is the final boss. It's really not enjoyable and the difficulty spike does not match the rest of the game. The first games final boss was difficult but there was a strategy to learn and it wasn't the worst. This one is the worst. There's an area that's just so visually challenging to understand what's going on in this boss that I just could not understand. I had to get on discord to find a team to get me through this boss. I just did not like it. The other bosses in the game were mostly great and better than the first game. Posted July 26, 2023. Last edited December 12, 2023.

Mixed Feelings

I was excited for Remnant 2 because this was a continuation of playing in this world with my friends. I played over a 100hrs on Remnant 1 with my friends and we were really looking forward to playing the second one.

Remnant 2 was interesting because you had familiar characters and some new. It was nice to start fresh with a different character. Having more options for character classes was great. I was not a fan of the addition of the runes, that whole system was SUPER confusing. This just leads to my overall thought of I felt like Remnant 2 was over complicated period.

I spent a lot of time Googling things to figure out what we needed to do. I was not a big fan of being forced to play the adventure mode to actually level my weapons to a point to actually be able to fight the final boss. Although this was a cleaver tactic on the developers part to get people to play the other game modes. I just felt like this game could have flowed better.

The other piece is the story. Remnant has a great lore background and did a great job of giving lore in the various different worlds. However, the main story was a let down at the end. Main characters just disappear and then never come back, and you're left with more questions than at the end than you started with. All I can do is hope that they are going to come out with a 3rd game to wrap up the story.

Overall, I liked this game it's great to play with friends. It has really interesting and challenging fights. It's an enjoyable world to explore with friends.

Very good shooter souls-like, got kind of bored or burned out before the last map. Overall, same as the first just better. Note: i played it instantly after the first one.

I played it as a single-player game, and that's probably why I didn't enjoy it as much as most.

I would even say, that i enjoyed first game a bit more for some reason.

Bleh! I was expecting a fun co-op shooter like Left 4 Dead/Vermintide, but this is not that. Picked Medic to play support, but I'm soloing? And then I get killed 10x in a row on the first real encounter. Nah. Whoever this is for, it ain't me.

I bought the ultimate edition of this despite not having touched the first one.

Must learn self control... Still not as bad as what I done with the Zelda series.

It's such a pain trying to get these wisps to spawn so I can get enough blood moon essence to unlock summoner, even when the blood moons out I cant find the bloody wisps anywhere.

edit: Just as I posted this two wisps appeared infront of me XD and whole lot more after that.

Don't even know how I made it to the last world playing by myself as only the medic archtype because theres a lot of bs enemies that swarm you and don't even give you the chance to reload or heal.

Sweet jesus the last boss is a mess.

Trying to land from one portal to another in the labyrinth is a nightmare, I either completely miss the portal and die or fall on the side of it and die.
