You know Doom. We all know Doom. One man, a dozen guns, a chainsaw, and a whole lot of field medicine vs. the amassed legions of MARTIAN HELL. It's a classic video game tale on par with the Mario series, albeit for a much different audience, and with significantly more gore and heavy metal music.

DoomRL is a freaky, bizarre abomination that should not exist, but I am so very glad that it does. This extremely competent, fast-paced rogue-like adaptation of the classic Doom may be a bit unpolished and buggy and weird, but it captures so much of the original's attitude and atmosphere that it's scary. Available for free here, this is the sort of oddity you try out of curiosity, only to spend a weekend on without seeing the sun.
