Just because this battle fits in the palm of your hand doesn't mean the stakes are small. On the contrary, this all-or-nothing fight will have you accessing guns, grenades, launchers, and weaponry of all sorts. Players assume command of an army that's out to reclaim a world that's been broken up by warring factions. The battle map is essentially a grid, and moving units is like moving chess pieces on a board -- each of the units can move a specific amount of spaces within this grid, and can only attack at a certain distance from specific enemies. Advance Wars features more than 115 maps, a map editor, head-to-head play via link cable, and an easy-to-understand tutorial mode for beginners. Read less

Oh... I thought the reboot for switch was still delayed indefinitely due to the war in Ukraine. It came out last year! I can see why they delayed it... the landscapes remind me of the videos of drones dropping grenades on dudes :(

Got sick of waiting for the switch release and started a new game on my GBA. This game is incredible and I forgot how well made this game is. I've been hooked for the past few days.

There are quite a few RPGs that interest me with strategy elements. I want to get good at strategy, and not just lean on grinding for stronger units, so I'm tackling Advance Wars before Fire Emblem or any other strategy RPG. I've started Advance Wars many times, but THIS is the time I actually finish it.
