The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood (Switch)

Jueguito español de tomar decisiones mediante cartas del tarot. Bonito a rabiar y con un guión brillante, te presenta una valiente historia en el que temas como el feminismo o la realidad LGTBIQ+ se tratan de forma adulta y sin complejos.

I am so glad I played this game. The story is well-written, the art style is beautiful, the music is lovely and the characters are diverse and interesting. I LOVED the card creation part of this game and seeing what meanings each card had based on what choices I made while building them was so much fun. Then, when you use the cards it was so interesting to see the different outcomes you get to choose from. There are multiple endings so I could see myself replaying this to make different choices but the ending I got on my first play-through, while bittersweet, was satisfactory based on the directions I chose to go throughout the story. The only thing I would wish for is the addition of a free card creation section where you can play around with all the components without restriction to see what possibilities there are with the cards. But that just gives more reason to play the game again!

The vibes of this game were so relaxing and I loved playing slowly every night before bed. This is such a fun and unique way to make a visual novel feel interactive and like your choices matter. Truly a beautiful game.

I played this while on holiday and it was the perfect game for being tucked away in a little log cabin. It is cozy and yet punchy. I love that you can play it again and again and you will get loads of different endings. It is beautiful and the characters are *chefs kiss - I can see why there …

Speaking of games that made me cry, I'm bawling happy tears during this Peppermancy scene! Love to see trans joy onscreen.

Played the demo for this earlier and it seems like one of those games where it’s either totally your thing or totally not your thing. I figured I’d be more in the latter camp since I’m not interested in the witch/tarot theme, but I try things out anyway if people seem enthusiastic about them. Played the demo for this earlier and it seems like one of those games where it’s either totally your thing or totally not your thing. I figured I’d be more in the latter camp since I’m not interested in the witch/tarot theme, but I try things out anyway if people seem enthusiastic about them. The demo definitely confirmed that this didn’t really interest me much conceptually, but the bigger problem for me was the dialogue, which seemed to very much be going for a modern day relatable feel. Coming from the mouths of these characters, it felt very out of place and tonally awkward, and turned me completely off of wanting to play more of this. I’m all for some humor in a game but I guess that kind of approach is always going to run the risk of falling flat for a small part of the audience. I similarly bounced off of Misericorde this week after an interesting first hour that played it pretty straight suddenly shifted to more of a young adult, modern humor vibe that it tried mixing with the more serious stuff. I don’t know, I don’t need my games to take themselves 100% seriously, but sometimes the balance and approach of the humor is not gonna work for me I guess. I think if this game looks appealing to you, just go for it and you’ll probably love it (at least to a point, based on some reviews I’ve read), and if you’re on the fence, definitely try out that demo.

Card Captor Fortuna

There's nothing I can do to convince you to play a "tarot reading visual novel" if this concept isn't attractive to you. You probably won't like it anyway, but I fell absolutely in love with this game and if the idea of designing your own cartomancy deck with a "cosmic witch" setting inspires just a little of curiosity in you, then you should get this beautiful game.

For a while, I was considering this game to be an actual 10/10 for me. A score I haven't considered for any game since Super Mario Odyssey. But eventually discovered it wasn't actually perfect. There were some times when my decisions didn't seem to affect the outcomes, there's only one romanceable character and it becomes too political in the last third.

I mean "too political" literally. It becomes a game about participation in politics. I don't say that because it is "too woke" or something (because it is damn woke and I love it).

I'm not super into tarot, so I was surprised to find myself digging this demo as much as I did! It's a pixel art visual novel about a witch who's been sentenced to 1000 years in astral prison for foretelling the demise of her coven, and her relationship with the undying behemoth she summons to help her escape. Along the way you craft your own tarot deck with a pretty robust editor that lets you change both the card meanings and their actual art, and then use that custom deck to read the fortunes of people that come visit you in space jail.

Unclear from the demo just how much influence your choices might have over the story's direction, but the vibes are great and the premise has me hooked.
