Skies of Arcadia Legends is an enhanced GameCube port of Skies of Arcadia. It follows the air pirate Vyse and his companions as they explore a world of floating continents and oppose the Valuan Empire, which seeks to awaken the ancient Gigas using six powerful Moon Stones. Players travel by airship, explore towns and dungeons, recruit crew members, discover hidden locations, and engage in turn-based character and ship battles. The GameCube version retains the original story and gameplay while adding new characters, side content, backstory, collectible items, music, and changes to the reputation and battle systems. I'm about 10 hours or so into this game and am liking it pretty well so far. Doing my best not to use a guide of any kind so probably missing out on some mechanics. Last year around this time I played through Grandia II which I'd say is pretty comparable in quality to this, though I do like this game's story and exploration a good bit better. Combat-wise I prefer Grandia, but I don't at all mind the classic turned based system either. I'm guessing I'll end up giving this a high 3 star or very low 4 star rating assuming I finish it.

I finally have my own sky ship which makes every ship battle that much more exciting.

Several of the boss battles haven't been challenging, but just long. However, the optional bounty hunts are incredibly tough, making up for this.

Still enjoying the game. I think I am in the last 1/4th of it.

I think I am a little over midway through this game, I really am enjoying it. Its tone is much lighter then the usual JRPG. I particularly like the ship battles.

The magic system is interesting, but I wish there was a little bit more to it for end game.

When I was more of a book nerd we used to talk about those books you came back and read again every year or two. I started playing Skies of Arcadia again (for the third time in ten years) and as I'm playing it I'm realizing this game reminds me why I love games. It is a title I think I will return to and play every few years, probably forever. Do you have any games like that? Games that you find yourself beating over and over, or coming back to year after year?
