The game is set on the imaginary island-kingdom of Ruswal, where nights are plagued by Azure-blooded demons. Although it is dangerous for humans to leave their homes after dark, the brave knights known as the Curia are trained to fend off the ever growing threat. Among them is Arnice, a warrior of great skill and the protagonist of Nights of Azure. While she’s skilled with a blade, her talents aren’t just a product of her training. Wow this game is rough. How does a game that’s only five years old look this bad? The animations are incredibly stiff and lifeless, like something from a PSX game (I wish I was being hyperbolic). On top of that, do all Koei-Temco games have the same crappy hack and slash combat? This feels like another musou despite not being a musou in structure.

I feel like fans of JRPGs are willing to put up a lot for very little return.

I am loving this game a surprising amount. It is definitely flawed, but it seems to have its heart in the right place. I like JRPGs, but never play them due to their ridiculous length, so when I see complaints about one being too short I make sure to check it out.
