Third course finished! This one’s called Sky Coup: 1C0-VYT-RYG

(Super Mario World’s visual style is still so dang good.)

My second course is called “Funky Flora.” I wanted to try a course with multiple secret optional paths: KY3-YWK-FDG

The reviews I read that encouraged use of a stylus seemed to always mention finger grease as the primary factor. But IMO the touch target sizes really are too small for the Switch’s screen without one, regardless of how oily your fingertips are or aren’t. But IMO the touch target sizes really are too small for the Switch’s screen without one, regardless of how oily your fingertips are or aren’t. And the gamepad controls just don’t cut it for me after so much time with the Wii U predecessor.

I already had a stylus lying around, but thought I’d mention in case others plan to buy and do not.

Quite a few people have been telling me that the Joycons and the Switch Pro Controller have a bunch of issues and that they prefer using Xbox or PS4 controller with the Switch, using this dongle thing:

I'll likely just use my PS4 controller for when I get a Switch. Very tempted to get one in the coming days, …

I'll likely just use my PS4 controller for when I get a Switch. Very tempted to get one in the coming days, cuz SMM2 looks so much fun.

Need to dig into the various win states or goals that you can set in this game. I made a lot of classic style Mario levels in the first game but the options provided by the goal toggles really open up a world of possibilities.

A quick PSA for this game, there are two peripherals that make it infinitely more enjoyable, first of all I highly recommend making the levels directly on the Switch in touch mode, and for that I would recommend an Ipad type Stylus, you might already have one around the house, as manufacturers have started adding them to regular pens.

The other one is to play the levels with a D-Pad, if you have a later version pro controller, you can use that, but for portable play I highly recommend the Hori D-Pad:

This one is currently on sale, I have the Zelda one and I've been playing all platformers, Metroidvanias and fighting games with it, very recommended.

If anyone is interested, check out Course ID: 7Q8-Q07-WFF. Is a very simple level, a course-building refresher and a basic attempt at a course that would be at home in the original Super Mario World.

On the train heading out of the city for the long weekend. Picked up my copy on the way to the train. Can’t wait to dig into it.

One more day! I am slightly jealous of people who purchased a digital copy, because I suppose they get to play at midnight tonight. I'll have to wait until tomorrow, and I'm psyched.

Only a few days left. I can't wait to pick up my copy. I don't know how I am going to do anything else this coming weekend, and it's a long weekend!

There are so many new additions over the original packed into this sequel that I’m overwhelmed with excitement.
