So after 18 hours and attempt number "Please God end my existence" I'm going to have to drop Sekiro. Not because of any faults in the game itself but I just can't beat Lady Butterfly. Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne were tough but beatable, but I just can't figure out combat in this game. I've hit plenty of walls in older "NES Hard" games, but it feels a little weird to do that with a modern title. No knocks on the game here this is definitely just a personal issue with not really getting the posture system.

Not for me. I had a small amount of enjoyment learning to "get good" by dying lots of times and then finally being able to defeat a few tricky bad guys. The speed of the combat was neat once you got into a flow, and I liked it better once I had enough tools at my disposal to make a …

Not for me. I had a small amount of enjoyment learning to "get good" by dying lots of times and then finally being able to defeat a few tricky bad guys. The speed of the combat was neat once you got into a flow, and I liked it better once I had enough tools at my disposal to make a few more mistakes without dying immediately.

I knew I would be putting this game down sooner rather than later, as I just don't want to spend all my time grinding on a single game when there are so many other good ones out there. However I ran into an extremely speedy boss (Lady Butterfly) and the camera and lock-on was just fighting against me in a completely unfair way. Not exactly the stopping point I was looking for.

Realized I bought this on sale and forgot I owned it. Figured after the Game of the Year Award I should finally get into it. 3 hours in so far and it's about as difficult as I hoped and/or feared it'd be. I like the more up front story than the other souls games, but am not as big a …

Realized I bought this on sale and forgot I owned it. Figured after the Game of the Year Award I should finally get into it. 3 hours in so far and it's about as difficult as I hoped and/or feared it'd be. I like the more up front story than the other souls games, but am not as big a fan of the samurai setting as Bloodborne's gothic lovecraftian nightmarescape.

Finished the game through the "Immortal Severance" ending. Demon on Hatred optional boss also beat.

Beat the final boss (!!!), but didn't start NG+ yet. I skipped just one optional boss in favor of beating the game, but I want to go back and do that before moving on to the next play through. I'm actually really excited to start again though.

Getting close to the end now! I almost can’t believe I’ve gotten this far. I’m excited to finish though, and I actually want to do a NG+ (which is rare for me). Probably won’t get to it right away, but still.

It's crazy how much I learned from getting through the Genichiro boss fight. I feel so much more skilled now. I'm even killing bosses on my first try, which I didn't honestly think would be possible. Frustrating at the time, but I guess ultimately worth it.

I cannot for the life of me beat Genichiro Ashina. I worked on it for like 4 hours today and the farthest I got was 2/3 deathblows. Am I missing some trick to this?

I just decided to skip ahead to Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo, but I’m a still little frustrated. `

Okay, the game is still very challenging, but I also feel like I’m getting the hang of it. I’ve started strategizing instead of just attacking anyways, lol. 😅 But the Shinobi tools and combat arts I’ve picked up really do help balance the scales.

Also the section with the giant snake was downright terrifying. I was legit shaking. Why did …

First impression: This game is super hard! I've already died a million times. :(

But the combat flows well, the moves make me feel badass, and it's overall super fun so far. I just hope I figure it out eventually...

I'm definitely stubborn and keep banging my head against this game. I took down my second boss today. I guess I'm getting better, but I'm scared to go into new areas every time. It's going to be hard! My new strategy is to just watch a video of someone who is good at video games beating an area I'm having trouble with, and then just go do what they did. It's working out OK so far :)

I'm probably just frustrated, but I might be done with this game. I'm about 7 hours in, and I don't feel like I'm getting much better. I slowly but surely make progress, but where I'm at with my life, I just want to kind of relax when I'm playing games. This game is intense, and you're meant to play a section 15 times before you get it right. I'll probably come back to it on and off over time, but I think I'll just stick to my JRPGs and adventure games for now :)

OK, tip number 1 that I've come up with after 5 hours of play, go slow. Take punks out 1 at a time. Use stealth on big bads when you can and make life easier on your self. Tip number 2 is don't screw it up once you've executed a plan and gotten a mini-boss all by himself and halved …

Tip number 2 is don't screw it up once you've executed a plan and gotten a mini-boss all by himself and halved his life with a stealth deathblow. I still need to learn tip number 2.
