I'm a big JRPG nerd and dig some of Christine Love's previous work, so I've been excited to play this one for a while! It looks great and the characters seem pretty neat, but the combat system just isn't fun at all.

Each party member can only equip 3 different moves at a time, and has to use each move in sequence, so besides cooldown management on abilities it barely feels like you're making any decisions at all during fights. There's no traditional experience and you instead level up by fusing dozens of trash items from gacha rolls into your equipment. And the tougher fights are centered around a Final Fantasy 13-style stagger system, which I'm personally not a big fan of.

It's cool to see more and more indie JRPGs coming out these days, but this one's a miss for me.
