What if Golf was like actually cool and stuff?: What the Golf? in a sentence

You would think a short Indie game focused entirely around the concept of "Golf" would get boring after a while, yet this game constantly surprised me with its wacky humor and inventive ideas to keep the idea going. You would think a short Indie game focused entirely around the concept of "Golf" would get boring after a while, yet this game constantly surprised me with its wacky humor and inventive ideas to keep the idea going. As someone who does not care for golf gameplay, mechanics, or even the real thing in the slightest, this game was a treat to coast through. You would think you had seen it all, then suddenly the game becomes a 2d sidescrolling platformer with golf mechanics, or a 3d shooter with a Western aesthetic, or when it became Guitar Hero??? What the Golf? keeps throwing banger after banger at you the whole playthrough, and it serves to be a nonstop joyride till the end, keeping its stay short and simple, which is the best outcome a game like this can hope to achieve, not overstaying its welcome. If you ever have an evening or two to really embrace the silliness of this game and just go golfing for a few hours (with plenty of surprises thrown in of course, I leave the best concepts for you to discover) then this is the golfing game for you, and that's not a sentence I would willingly state regarding any other game ever made. (Also the part of the game where you enter the bowels of the Frog King to save all of golfmanity in a tiny rowboat is fun, and no you don't get context to any of that sentence, go play it yourself!)

Charming but boring

The game is fun and doesn't fail to make you say "WTF" at every level. The problem is that it gets very boring after a couple of minutes

Play This Game! Even If You Don't Like Golf!

What The Golf is a "golf" game for people who don't like golf games. It's essentially a comical puzzle game with the overall theme being the mechanics around golf. It's not a hard game by any means, but a quite comical one that will continually have you entertained with the weird and wild challenges the game presents. The levels pretty regularly change up what your objective is or what the setting is, so it never overstays its welcome. If you can pick up this game on a sale, I recommend it!

Simple and Fun!

What the Golf? Is a classic example of taking a simple concept and just running absolutely wild with it. You can tell that the small team behind this was just having an absolute blast creating the levels and designing the challenges. They probably told themselves, hey… what if we made a game about golf, but we were to do it in the dumbest way possible… and for that I can wholeheartedly respect - this game is just fun, and it’s as simple as that.

There were several moments where just getting dropped into a level made me audibly laugh. That rules. More games like this please.

Golf is everything. Everything is Golf. No John, you are golf.

I'm still shocked about how much I enjoyed this game. I thought it was just going to be a fun distraction, but it really has a clever use of its very simple mechanics to create good humor and even is able to create difficult challenges in the way.
