This is one of the more interesting Atari collectibles. Coca-Cola commissioned a game from Atari to give to their Atlanta employees. In this case, Atari redesigned Space Invaders so that you shoot the letters "P E P S I" instead of space creatures. There were 125 copies of this game made. There is no real box for this one, just a flimsy Styrofoam shell. So it isn’t really a prototype, but it wasn’t a commercially available game either. And no, Coca-Cola does not have any copies left. Space Invaders clone thats pretty amusing

I admittedly know very little about the world of space invaders and clones, however this popped up on my radar when i saw it was a commmon retro achievement set. This game is interesting for 3 reasons.

First its shockingly not a romhack, the story here is something else! Supposedly this game is actually an officially produced thing that was given to Coke executives. Imagine working for coke and shooting at the evil pepsi invaders and then at the end of the game it says COKE WINS. wooooo! XD

Second, this might actually be the earliest game that has a time attack mode for a shooter/SHMUP/STG. While it's quite possible there is an arcade game of some kind in which you have a clock in the way this does, i'm not aware. Since this is a fixed shooter this is a prototype of sorts for 'boss rush'

Third, the historical nature of coke vs pepsi and marketing ploys in this era is well documented, and what better way to express that than this video game platform?

(in Max Headroom voice) C-C-C-Coke W-W-Wins-wins is a winner!
