As a fan of the Fate series I played this back in 2011. The plot is interesting because it was written by Kinoko Nasu, who wrote the original FSN VN. If your a fan of dungeon rogue-like with rpg elements, and a fan of the fate series, I don't see why you shouldn't give this a try.
Firstly, you have the variety of 3 servants to pick from. They're Saber, Archer and Caster. Since Saber is my favourite servant class, I went ahead and chose that was my go to servant. I went ahead and played this blind and did not know picking Archer and Caster would make the game difficulty harder. The combat mechanics are very similar to the rock, paper and scissors popular game. Some outcome of enemy movements are predictable, while some are up to you to guess.
The game is mainly about you duelling with other masters and finding as much information about the enemy servants before the duels begin. And it is highly recommended you scout, and obtain aspects of their history from them, especially the name of their noble phantasm or you'll have a hard time when the match begins.
Lastly, the art and …

Lastly, the art and soundtracks was passable enough for a fate game. The dialogues are interesting to read and you'll enjoy the game mechanics of rock, paper, scissors combat like I did.
I really tried to like this one, but the game is soooo unpolished.
The dungeons are basically the same dungeon with a different background and some colors changed.
The gameplay is TERRIBLE, like some kind of rock-paper-scissors situation that was extremely repetitive and took all the fun of most of the encounters.
As usual, I enjoyed Nasu's writing and really liked the visual novel parts, but it wasn't enough to rescue this from a two-star rating for me.
I would recommend only to the truer TypeMoon fan, and even then, I would recommend watching a walkthrough rather than playing it.
I got tired of waiting for Fate/Extra Record to ever be released so I wlll just pick this one up.

My first Fate game excluding the visual novels. One of my favorite series: FATE.

❶ My favorite character from this game is...GAR ARCHERRRRRR!
❷ MEMORY: I remember CONSTANTLY getting annoyed by the rock/paper/scissor system, but I was in complete bias mode that I liked the RNG. It was just amazing to finally be able to handle a servant like Archer or Tamano.
❸ GAMEPLAY: I think everything was above average minus the actual battle system, but the ability to play with multiple characters was interesting. Dungeoning was above average, but it did start getting repetitive. I think just being able to play the servants IS/STILL SO AWESOME to me.
Started the game not too long ago (probably 2-3 weeks ago) and in the latter end of Week 2. Liking it so far, not easy, but not too hard so long as you get prepped for your fights. Music's pretty chill too. I ended up picking Caster as my Servant and don't regret picking her. I like the interactions with her and the self-insert MC. (Probably goes the same when you pick the other main servants too.)
But dang I think died like probably 10+ times, a few from tutorial, few from Week 1 grinding, a few on the Week 1 boss. And what's a visual novel / game without bad end / dead ends? Definitely got at least one lol.
