Fate/Extra is a dungeon crawl style Japanese role-playing game. The game takes place in a parallel universe to the visual novel Fate/stay night. At the start of the game, the player may choose to play as either a male or female character, as well as selecting one of three Servants — Saber, Archer, or Caster, each with different strengths and weaknesses. Players spend one ingame "week" interacting with other characters, viewing scenes that advance the game's story, talking to their Servant in their room, and gathering clues to the identity of the enemy Servant. At the end of each day, they enter the Arena, a dungeon in which they can battle monsters to gain experience points and strengthen their Servant. The game's turn-based battle system is comparable to rock-paper-scissors -- "Attack" overpowers "Break", Break overpowers "Guard", and Guard overpowers Attack. During battle, both the player and the opponent line up six such moves at the beginning of each turn. Read less

❶ My favorite character from this game is...GAR ARCHERRRRRR!

❷ MEMORY: I remember CONSTANTLY getting annoyed by the rock/paper/scissor system, but I was in complete bias mode that I liked the RNG. It was just amazing to finally be able to handle a servant like Archer or Tamano.

❸ GAMEPLAY: I think everything was above average minus the actual battle system, but the ability to play with multiple characters was interesting. Dungeoning was above average, but it did start getting repetitive. I think just being able to play the servants IS/STILL SO AWESOME to me.

Started the game not too long ago (probably 2-3 weeks ago) and in the latter end of Week 2. Liking it so far, not easy, but not too hard so long as you get prepped for your fights. Music's pretty chill too. I ended up picking Caster as my Servant and don't regret picking her. I like the interactions with her and the self-insert MC. (Probably goes the same when you pick the other main servants too.)

But dang I think died like probably 10+ times, a few from tutorial, few from Week 1 grinding, a few on the Week 1 boss. And what's a visual novel / game without bad end / dead ends? Definitely got at least one lol.
