The game was/is heavily criticized as unoriginal as it 'borrows' many concepts from other titles (it has planes like fatal fury). But in my opinion, it manages to do things differently enough to be of interest.
It feels a bit like a Data-East title with the fairly healthy dose of 'silly' elements.
The stages resemble mini arena's. In one stage you grab onto a piece of bamboo between platforms. In another stage, you have an opening trapdoor that forces you back to the front-most plane.
There aren't many characters or stages, and I think that's what hurts it the most, but it's still a good time with 2 players. I'd give this another star if it had more content - but it's a very good 3-star title and the simplicity of its gameplay means anybody (with a tiny bit of fighting game knowledge) can pick it up and play.
Another major problem is that the sequel (Kizuna Encounter) was a big improvement and has some better characters.
