Pumpkin Jack plays like how your brain might remember your favorite linear 3-D platformer of the fifth or sixth home console generation. It looks and feels more contemporary than that, and it has a unique scenario with an unconventional protagonist. I enjoyed it.

I wasn't quite as charmed by it as others seem to be. This is a tremendous accomplishment for an individual to have pulled off mostly on their own, and I don't think it's fair for me to nitpick the same details I might for a AAA studio release. It's just that the levels seemed to carry on a bit too long for me personally. But I'm glad I played it: If you dig 3-D platformers, you should give it a try.

This game shouldn't work. The platforming is really imprecise, the combat is nothing but button mashing and the 'fog' is so dense that it reminded me of Silent Hill, an extremely neon Silent Hill.

And yet, it works and I had a lot of fun with this game. The characters are a lot of fun, the level design is great, boss fights are intense, music is phenomenal and has a lot of variety, puzzles and mini-games. None of them are great, but are good and fun. It's a small game, made practically by just one person and never takes itself too seriously.

Its a great way to spend a weekend with a game that remind us the PlayStation era and has a big halloween vibe.

I'm halfway through the game and, despite imprecise controls and button mashing fights, I'm having a lot of fun. I'm trying to determine exactly why.
