Further, the player can choose between two control schemes. Arcade and simulation. The first one makes the game easier to control, while the second one gives more options to control the aircraft. Beside the campaign the game also features several multiplayer modes, local and via internet for up to four players. Less

Fun followed by frustration

ACSW is fun for a few hours. You get to kill nazis and the story is enjoyable and unusual for a war game. But all the little flaws start adding up and ultimately i just got frustrated.

In-game dialogue completely covers the interface, so you have no idea where everything is or how fast you're going. Some of the planes (Lavochkin, Stuka) are clearly better than their counterparts so you end up always using them. Infantry will magically survive bombs dropped right next to them and if your mission requires killing them this takes endless strafing runs. Some missions are easily failed even on the easiest difficulty. For instance, a single Stuka can take out the train you have to protect with its first attack. Or you have to blow up a building that's shielded by indestructible trees on the side of your approach, with a very tight time limit not giving you more than one extra pass after you figure that out. Even something as simple as the game complaining that you're "leaving the battle area" while you clearly have to fly in that location to stay hidden. Yes, this has instantly-failed stealth missions... in a plane.

ACSW feels like a beta where they've finished all the story elements but the gameplay still has to be tested. Not to mention that the graphics are substandard even for a 2011 release. I wouldn't recommend this for the €6 Steam asks, let alone the $20 Nintendo wants for the Switch version.
