It's neat, unique, functional, and little else. The real terror while being chased by the ghosts comes from the very sparse checkpoints meaning you'll have to redo several minutes of gameplay with the very awkward first person tank controls. Funnily enough the last time I can remember that I had to redo a lengthy "final boss" sequence because of a very minor goof I did at the end of it was also while playing a DS game, namely Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2.
...of the controls.
The game itself is... well, it's a game. Entertaining enough, I guess. While I feel the concept of a cursed game is pretty much wasted here (I'd have to check if it's better on the sequel), it's still an interesting concept, and the game is short enough as to be worth it.
However, any pros I can say get buried under the enormous con that is movement. With both an awkward control scheme designed to destroy your wrists forever, and a walking speed based on the movements of a very relaxed snail, it made me completely fear each
I'd be OPEN to play the sequel at some point, but I don't think it's gonna be any time soon.
Holy frick my wrists.
Ok, so this game is fucking terrifying, and normally I'm used to horror, but playing this at night with earbuds in? Holy heck is it a horrifying experience!
The gameplay is....not EXACTLY my taste, but it's new and ingeniutive!
The usage of the DS in game as a save point and the mysterious game also being played on it is a super cool nod to the game itself!
