Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team (2010)

I stopped playing this game as a kid because I couldn't figure out how to beat a mission. Coming back to this game was a real treat. I only did the Dragon Walker mode, so I didn't 100% the game, but I did at least unlock all of the characters. Gameplay-wise, it's solid, especially for a PSP game. Roster size is pretty big considering the other PSP DBZ games had huge roster cuts from my understanding. They did a good job bringing the Tenkaichi gameplay to the PSP and even taking it further by allowing for 4 players at the same time. Kind of wish they made this for a console to benefit from the extra strength. There were a few times where I felt some of the co-op stuff felt unresponsive, but it's usually functional. I appreciate the items being streamlined and intuitive instead of gacha based. My main complaints have to with the UX and padding. After entering a level, there isn't a way to check what missions are available or the progress of your missions. There's also a few times that they force you into battle without letting you customize your items, which is pretty annoying. As for the missions, they make the game a bit of a slog. A lot of levels have a "defeat all enemies" mission, which basically amounts to scouring the map multiple times just to be sure they're all gone. Some levels make you play them 5+ times in order to complete all of their missions. The post-game makes it worse because the what-ifs scenarios are the laziest I've seen in the series so far. They amount to playing the same levels you already beat, but as a different character this time. Overall, solid entry in the Tenkaichi series, glad I can take this off of the games I didn't beat list.
