First Impressions - Realm Royale - A Review by HunterXuman

Alright, this one was one I was debating on doing.

Realm Royale is, to me, exactly what it looks like on the front. It looks like another battle royale game styled to look semi similar to both Fortnite while playing a bit like Player Unknown's Battle Ground. When I first downloaded it I went in expecting it to be another clone. Luckily this wasn't exactly the case. While Fortnite focuses on building, this one focuses on powering up your character mid-match with different skills.

The skill feature is actually a pretty fun difference from what I'm used to, and the game is much more enjoyable when playing in a party as opposed to playing alone. You are able to call a mount at any point in the open field, making the long distance trips feel a lot shorter. I like this because the mount isn't a vehicle you can use as a battering ram against your opponents, but strictly as a means of faster travel. This keeps it fair.

Unfortunately, that's where a lot of the praise I have for this game ends. After a few matches I feel that there aren't enough quirks in the game to hold my attention long. Matches tend to feel more like a chore than fun after a while, so it's not really a game I'd play for a single long sitting.

The game also has a lot of noticeable issues in regards to connectivity, menu navigation, and skill tree implementation. The latter of the 3 I still haven't truly figured out how it'd benefit me. There's also a leveling up system, however I don't think that it really affects the matches much, and if they do, then it makes it unfair.

I can't give this game a great rating, but I can't give it a terrible one either. It's riding on a lot of expectations from the bigger games such as Fortnite, PUBG, and the most recent game Apex Legends; a game I find myself in a lot more than this one. It's also very early, and they can definitely take their formula and shake it up a beat to make it more exciting. Here's hoping that It'll be able to grab my attention again in the future.

A Class-Based Battle Royale

If you are familiar with PUBG or Fortnite, you know what the deal here is. I am not the biggest fan of PVP, but for the small amount it interests me, Battle Royale games are fun. However, PUBG is a mess, and their developers are jackasses, and Fortnite is overly hyped, and I hate the building mechanics that mostly just become ridiculous free-floating structures thrown together in frantic firefights.

Realm Royale goes in a different direction with its gimmick, first of all, being a bit more fantasy (which I enjoy), and also introducing a class system. In its current iteration, there are 4 classes (Warrior, Hunter, Assassin, and Mage) and each plays a bit differently and skews towards different skills and weapons (though all characters are able to use all skills and weapons).

It adds a bit of a different playstyle from class-to-class, which adds a bit of variety between matches. Otherwise, it's just a decent Battle Royale game and I hope to see it grow and flourish.

A fun game for a while but it got ruined after some awful changes to the gameplay. I don't know if I can recommend it in it's current state. Played for +20 hours.
