Is Tokyo mirage sessions for switch worth if I already have the Wii u versión? I found it for 20 bucks on a local store, but I don't know if the switch version is worth for that price.

Started. After putting 80 hours into Persona 5 Royal and playing Persona 4 Golden alongside it (while I'm halfway through Shin Megami Tensei Apocalypse) I think it'll be a while before I get to this game. I clicked “what to play next” button and it picked Tokyo Mirage Session. Let’s see how this goes, I hear it has a little flavor persona and I love that game.

Beat the main story and all side stories, time at 40 hours 9 minutes.

Enjoyable game for JRPG fans, even more so if you enjoy Atlus JRPGs (Persona 5).

Very "anime", game does a good job of incorporating backline party members into battles with sessions.

Some of the censorship from the original Japanese version definitely shows, the story of a couple dungeons are kind of boring.

EXP dungeon area was greatly helpful to avoid long grind sessions, can easily level up for your next boss battle.

Chapter 5 intermission, 29 hour mark. Enjoyable, can get frustrating when a party member goes down and you spend resources reviving them, only for them to immediately get downed again since they're at the back of the order...

I've spent a small fortune on JRPGs for the Switch in this last couple of weeks. I'm never going to play them, but I keep buying them. I just bought this last night. I loved it on the Wii U, so I figure I'll support them on the Switch.

I also bought Ni No Kuni and FFVIII. I like Ni …

Farming for resources is a slog, and the inability to skip session animations makes the game feel really slow. Having to beat the game 3 times for the chance to 100% it is pretty ridiculous. If you just want to run through the main story, i think it’s worth trying out.

Enjoying this game a lot more than when I first played it. It’s cool being able to switch your main party in battle and racking up sessions. Grinding for performa is a pain in the booty though.

Although I fell in love with the upbeat and fun mood of this game, as time went on, its lack of depth, and overall predictability defiantly make it hard for me to recommend to most people.

Story issues aside there is also a major flaw in the battle system, which only becomes apparent later in the game (past about the 2/3 mark). Your party members can create combos if you attack enemies using elements or weapons they are weak too. Initial this is really fun, and makes the battles feel really dynamic. The issue comes about later in the game when you have a full cast of characters, and each one of them will add to the combo. This can result in 20 hit long combos, which take minutes to complete. Suffice to say, this makes the end of the game extremely drawn out, and tedious. There is no way to speed up the combos, and no way to skip them, so I literally started cooking dinner, or doing housework, in between attack commands.

Overall I feel like with a patch to speed up the battles this game could really capture the fun and upbeat mood I think the creators were going for originally, and would make it much easier to recommend others to check out.

About 30 hours into Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE I'm still enjoying myself in this very japanese, rather childish and cheesy Persona-like game. About 30 hours into Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE I'm still enjoying myself in this very japanese, rather childish and cheesy Persona-like game. I easily develop addictions to upgrades, and there are plenty of those to be made in this game, and I mostly enjoy the story of teens developing into jpop idols. However, there's not much of an overall plotline to keep you invested in pushing the narrative forward, no big baddie has (yet) materialized and the crimes perpetrated against humanity by said unknown baddie has been relatively mild thus far. Still happy though that the Wii U got an ambitious jrpg like this.

I played through the prologue tonight, and I think it's going to be right in my wheelhouse. Having played Persona 4, I felt right at home with the battle system. I'm only an hour and a half in, but I have a feeling I'm really going to like this. I just hope it's not as long as a Persona game.
