Surprised/Let Down/As Expected: As Expected
Favorite Mechanic or Narrative Moment: Halls of Torment undeniably looks cool as hell. Everything evokes an old PC game, and the voice acting is perfectly terrible to match. As far as mechanics go, I do somewhat enjoy the equipment concept. It feels good to have to choose between items that are working towards your build instead of simply choosing a permanent passive buff to stack with everything else.
Least Favorite Thing: I've come to really not enjoy vampire survivor-likes that include these never ending upgrades you select from until the run ends. Part of the joy for me is that your power is eventually capped and you need to find a build that lets you be greater than the sum of all your parts by the end of it.
In this game, since you just keep leveling up and getting upgrades the whole time, it becomes a lot harder to feel the sense of scale for how much damage you do and how much you need to be able to do to get through a level. There's never a satisfaction of reaching "full build" - you are always on the treadmill.

Will definitely keep an eye out for full release though, the game is still a fun little time waster here and there and has potential.
Played it very off and on, pretty solid vampires survivor-like. I like how the characters and their main abilities play and I like the end of level bosses. This might change soon, but I feel like there are not enough powerups, I think there should be a wider variety. I also think it's a little too easy, I've done 4 runs and won 3, with the only one I failed was a class that had like a weird playstyle. Light 7/10.
love me some vamp survivors + diablo influenced game.
