Unique concept, lacking execution.
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

Another one off my bucket list. Sadly, this one was dropped after several first missions since there are glaring flaws that drag the gameplay flow down. Good things first, one being the unusual concept of combining first person shooter with strategy elements by commanding your carrier with its vehicle units. The management level is pretty advanced, allowing the players to produce units, components applied to the former and leverage your conquered facilities on different islands to gather resources and productions. The primary gameplay is then being executed on your mission to overcome the enemy army's defenses and overtake the command center of the targeted island. The direct control feature allows you to act as the deployed unit in 1st or 3rd person view, giving opportunity to optimize the outcome and giving a closer immersion in the mission.

Now, one of the bad things that got me to give up on the gaming was the inconsistent flow that could have been fixed. While the uncontrolled units can be given orders for tactical purposes, the AI pathfinding is horrible to the point that there were many times I found my assisting units to get stuck somewhere along the way until I had …

Now, one of the bad things that got me to give up on the gaming was the inconsistent flow that could have been fixed. While the uncontrolled units can be given orders for tactical purposes, the AI pathfinding is horrible to the point that there were many times I found my assisting units to get stuck somewhere along the way until I had to control it directly and steer it on the right course again. Sometimes they get stuck on the mud or drive off the bridge once in a while but it's happening too often that I notice my progress get dragged down unnecessarily. The second problem I have is that, while the unit command is designed with quick UI, the execution is less intuitive than desired because I have to figure out how to divide commands between my different units. The tutorials in the dialogues are quite small to get a proper attention at high resolutions, likely.

I think there are some redeemable qualities that can be enjoyed for those who are looking for something different between the two genres and like my fellow reviewers, this one should be recommended tried out on demo or bought at a sale price.
