jademonkey's review of Dungeon Warfare 2

I'm just not into the whole setup here. It's too grindy for my tastes, and I don't particularly like how the progression systems fit together otherwise. Each trap needs to be leveled, there's a few skill trees, there are permanent bonuses from clearing mission objectives, and there's a bunch of equipment to farm. For tower defense, I'd rather just have fewer but more meaningful discrete choices and focus on high quality maps and making strategic decisions, rather than Diablo-like optimization. It ends up feeling bad to try out new towers, since you'll want support for them that you may not have. This is a game I'd want to play 10-15 focused hours of, but it seems to want me to play a lot more. The base gameplay itself isn't too bad, but the meta-progression features seep into every decision even while playing a map, which killed my interest to continue.

For some people these things may be positives, and I honestly may have been one of those people in the past. Now, though, it just feels a bit tedious to me.
