I was expecting so much from this game, coming from the same developers of Dragon Quest XI. The presentation of the game is great, from visual, to animations, to music etc... And the characters are as charming as they are in the anime. That's where my praise ends, however. While the different characters have different strengths and weakness in paper, the way the gameplay works make them very redundant. The combats end too quickly to need any sort of planning and the rock-paper-scissors combat mechanics are so overpowered that it is the only metric you need to use in deciding who attacks who. In summary, they had great potential but that was sadly wasted with badly implementation.
I played the demo. I thought "Ah, this is mediocre, but at least it's a way to past the time while playing with one piece action figures"
I got the game, and after 20 hours I thought "Ah, I want to gouge my eyes out."
I'm gonna speedrun this review because the game has already taken too much time from my limited life on this earth:
Unbalanced, irrelevant skills, backtrack, forwardtrack, backforwardtrack, no story, recycled manga locales are literally a cardboard cutout of their original selves, calling it filler makes filler look bad, mediocre visuals, no sense of progression, pacing or any other word that usually makes or breaks a JRPG.
This is the worst JRPG that I've ever played, period, and it's also one that from the outside really looks like it's just OK.
you will play this game only for its story its turn based system is very basic nothing interesting and if you don't like the story of the game you wont like it the whole game since the mechanics are not interesting,no progression it will feel the same from beginning till the end worst one piece game so far for me
