Early days but I’m enjoying this so far. I was concerned that the focus on repetition might turn things dull quickly, but there appears to be an increasing number of things going on as you raise your Research Level, as well as an element of randomness, to keep things fresh. So far: fun and relaxing.

Suuuuper laid back, suuuuper casual, and I love it. Perfect to play with others, not literally, but just hanging out, together, taking pics of Pokémon. Chilllllll.

Completed the Photodex today, such a satisfying feeling! Not sure if there are plans for DLC in the future but i'll more than welcome some more Pokemon to be added.

I'm honestly so undecided on this.

It sounds like it's hand-holdy, which I'm getting kind of burnt out on with Pokemon. YOU KNOW WE'RE ALL OLD NOW, NINTENDO. None of my middle school students give half a shit about Pokemon. (Okay, there's one, and I gave her some of my double cards recently, but like, she's the only one.)

I was like eight when the original came out. I didn't look up all the secrets and whatnot, and just kind of played on and off until I had to return it to Blockbuster. I doubt I really understood much of what I was doing other than sporadic CAMERA POKEMON CLICK and I definitely suck(ed) at first person stuff, so... I don't know that I loved it, other than that it was Pokemon?

I guess I just don't have the nostalgia for it like I do for the mainline games. I know I'm not gonna spend $60 on it. But I think I should try it at some point. So maybe not undecided. Pretty decided. Waiting for a friend to cave and buy it, I guess, because Mario and Pokemon never go on sale everrrr.

I have over 10 hours in this now, and am amazed how much replayability there is in every level.

The first game was won by memorizing Pokemon patterns, discovering a few unlockable special poses, and then getting new things to open by hitting them with apples and pester balls.

New Pokemon Snap takes it much further, levels have branching paths that can be discovered, they have level values that determine various Pokemon behaviors. Your tools, like apples and pester balls (they are called something else but its what they still are), music, and scanning can influence some Pokemon, but you can also snag great pictures while just observing.

The variety of actions the Pokemon can do is just astounding!

So glad I got this on release!

I feel fairly confident I will beat this tonight, but my thoughts essentially come down to it being as fun as Star Fox 64 but the progression is like General Pepper saying "We know you want to go to that asteroid field, but how about you play Corneria 3 more times first?"

This game is incredible. It's absolutely everything we wanted it to be. And there is so. Much. Content.

Overall, this feels like the OG game, but with a bigger emphasis on varied behavior, rewarding going to the same place multiple times, and less emphasis on smacking pokemon with apples!

I was supposed to get this yesterday, but Walmart lost my package. I'm going to the store this morning to pick up a copy. All that to say blame Walmart that all my sweet sweet New Pokémon Snap takes have been delayed!
