The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is the first Zelda game for the Nintendo DS and a direct sequel to The Wind Waker. The art direction is the same cel-shaded style as the Wind Waker but is displayed from a classic top-down perspective. The gameplay is structured similarly to other games in the series and is divided into two major gameplay sections: sailing between islands and exploring the islands and their dungeons on foot. The touch screen is used to make Link move and attack instead of buttons, you can also make notes of secret treasures and items on the map simply by writing them down. The game received critical acclaim from reviewers, who agreed that the game was a worthy sequel to The Wind Waker. Read less

What an amazing game, to bad it’s stuck on the Ds! I played with a patched version to use my ps4 controller and it played great wish they would release it on the switch

This isn't terrible by any means, but having to repeatedly complete floors in the Temple of the Ocean King is a pain in the ass. Glad I pirated this.

Playing this on an emulator on my phone and it's actually mad fun. I love these old handheld games, they're something special.

It's very rare to see an otherwise pleasant game have enjoyment sucked out of it so completely by a single feature as this game with the Temple of the Ocean King. I want some of what the devs were smoking when they made this.

Facing a tricky decision with Phantom Hourglass. The game emulates perfectly on the Steam Deck through MelonDS... if you keep the original resolution. Facing a tricky decision with Phantom Hourglass. The game emulates perfectly on the Steam Deck through MelonDS... if you keep the original resolution. However, when you bump up the resolution, it causes horrible flickering with shadows and some textures. DesmuME has no such visual glitches when you bump up the resolution, but has occasional frame rate slowdown. If I'm going to play the game at its original resolution, I may as well dig up my copy of the game and play on my 3DS XL, since the game just feels better on the DS's resistive touch screen. So far I've played the opening of the game 3 times with all of these options and I haven't made up my mind. It's a bummer, I was looking forward to playing the DS Zeldas in a higher resolution, but it seems the tradeoffs are not worth it.

Lets Create an okayish dungeon that is a bit boring. then lets force out players to complete this one dungeon over and over and over and over again . sounds like good game design . dont forget to include wancky controlls

Unfortunately I was not able to get used to the controls. I only played for about an hour or two before stopping and decided to not pick it up again.

If anyone's interested in getting this for the Wii U, know that the screen becomes extremely tiny because they fit both screens on the gamepad.
