A lot of people trying to recreate the feeling of retro survival horror games need to realize that Survival Horror games had a clear direction from the get-go, you never felt this amount of aimless, Survival Horror games had amazing map design akin to something to a Zelda game!
The idea of combining Roguelike features with survival horror seems like a match made in heaven, and I know that it's been done really well quite a few times. But what results of it here is a chaotic mess that takes a while to catch up and a series of puzzles randomized throughout a city which end with you just having a disorganized mess of items, in a regular survival horror when you pick up an item you feel the sense of "I need this for something upcoming" but due to the nature of the design of this game you are really just picking up random items and hoping you might use them.
Other survival horror games have quite a lot to offer immediately, this one just has you rummaging through a village hoping the sequence of activities you do is one that progresses you. The general idea of the game …

The general idea of the game is to have you act like a bumbling idiot lost, which is probably why they made the art style this annoying and unpleasurable to look at the more you spend time with it, things start looking like the same. Also Italy is not that interesting.
