Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version are the primary paired versions of Generation V. Black and White follow the trends set up by previous games in the series. Two player characters (one male and one female) travel a new region, Unova, on their Pokémon journeys. This region is inhabited by various Pokémon, and unlike before, none of those available prior to Generation V can be obtained before completing the main story by defeating Team Plasma. The games' names were revealed on the official Japanese Pokémon website on April 9, 2010, and scans from the subsequent issue of the magazine leaked the following day, April 10. Pokémon Black and White are followed in 2012 by two sequels, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, which are set two years after the events of Black and White. Black 2 and White 2 are the second and final paired versions of Generation V. Read less

Decided to create a shelf for Pokemon (Main series) since I replay all the games consistently and they're kinda always gonna be around in my life. Played Pokemon White this summer using an all shiny team consisting of: Samurrott, Leavanny, Zebstrika, Liepard, Bisharp, and Victini. Yes, the Victini was hacked in but all the other mons were shiny hunted legitally over the course of the last 2-3 years or so (brutal hunts btw). Anyways, I love the 5th generation. 4th Gen will always be my #1, but Gen 5 is probably 2nd or 3rd. I love the music, the region, the characters, the story, it's all done well here. However, Unova does have a pretty underwhelming pokedex imo. Yes, I know these mons have gained more love over the years, but I can't get behind it. I just think so many of them are bland and undercooked. I loved every team member this playthrough, but when replaying Pokemon Black and White it's hard building a team due to me not liking a majority of 5th gen mons. I love all three starters in this gen (the only gen where I like all three starters), and the legendary trio is top notch. The only challenging part during this playthrough was Lenora at the beginning and N/Ghetsis in the final battle. I'm not sure if I typically struggle on N/Ghetsis since it's been a few years since I last ventured through Unova, but man it took me a few tries. Post game isn't too lengthy here. Went and found all seven sages, rematched the E4, defeated Alder (underrated champ btw), and finally ended the journey by taking on Cynthia. I think it'd be cool to maybe come back to this file someday and take on the Battle Subway so I could fight Ingo and Emmet, but I'm not too concerned with doing that as of now. Gonna play White 2 next, then Y, then Legends Arceus again to prep for Legends ZA. Hopefully I have enough time to get all that done before ZA releases. If not, oh well, Pokemon will always be here for me. These updates are more for my own personal thoughts and a way to help me remember each playthrough. Look forward to more entries for different games in the series!

This Pokémon game has too much cutscenes/dialogues, just let me beat the gyms, elite 4 and champions but nooo I need to listen to a npc talk for like 10 minutes after each step, annoying lol

Another nostalgic game! GameFreak really took their time to make the game look beautiful. This was the first "new" generation for me since I started playing pokemon and I loved all the designs for the new ones. The towns were so vibrant and colourful. The story was a bit lackluster but team plasma was really cool!

It's been a decade since B/W dropped in North America. Definitely one of my favorites from the franchise.

Personally my favorite Pokémon game. I really liked the vibe, the season change but most of all I think the story was really interesting

I only have black- at the moment. I'll be getting White soon. The pokedex isn't as intense as r/b/y, however the addition of female and male variants makes it a bit more challenging.

Powered it up yesterday. 2/8 gym badges, 5 hours gameplay. Wandered around some massive city until I found the gym. Going to stomp some grunts most likely in a forest. Forgot how fast the game was. Wish they'd kept the pace in the newer games. Looking forward to playing through this.

Right. Science dictates that I must start playing this next. White 2 is still my favourite Pokemon game ever just for the story and how damn charming the adventure was. I'll never forget rocking up to the Elite 4, looking at my team and realising I was perfectly leveled to take them on.

I made the mistake of playing Pokemon Y and then stepping back to play this because I'm finding this game (White) SUPER grindy (and I do love how I need to grind in Pokemon). However, I found White 2 for fairly cheap, so I'm determined to beat this game to play that and consider myself finished (and ready …
