Elevator Action Returns, also known as Elevator Action II, is a 1994 run and gun arcade game developed and published by Taito. It is the sequel to Elevator Action (1983), featuring a much more gritty and realistic setting. Returns retains the elevator-based gimmick from the original, but expands the gameplay system and replaces the spy motif with a new scenario involving a paramilitary team fighting against a terrorist group.

Wow. It barely resembles the original in the sense of all the fluid animation, detailed backgrounds, and far higher standards for arcade stimulation. Two Player can simultaneous shoot it out with the baddies and pick from 3 different characters (I really didnt like the other two... one of them is just slower). The goal is the same as the first, get into all the red doors and leave the building. enter image description here Whats neat is the levels are all so different. Only the first level even really resembles the first game. The rest have you defusing bombs (by going in the red doors) in sewers, airports, oil rigs and even a missile silo. The background art is great and the soundtrack is a very over the top Japanese Modern city Jazzy-feeling instrumental something or other. enter image description here Very satisfying between the change in scenery and the great look and sound of everything. The only trouble is there are so many avenues of danger, and its very hard to see everything going on at once. Oh well just keep putting quarters in until its all over in half an hour.

I'd recommend this one if you're looking for Co-Op shooting games. Looks and feels a bit like the Sega Cd release of The Terminator in the way you have the same kinda constant platform shooting action, a nice (well almost) CD quality soundtrack and really fluid animation. The aesthetic is a almost dystopian pessimist urban look that feels a bit close to The Ninja Warriors

Also, I played the Saturn port for a few minutes. It looks and sound and plays very much like the same but has a slightly grainier muddy washed out look that doesnt do the game justice.
