I don't understand. to me it's a much better game than the first one. although I'm still in the beginning, maybe as I progress through the game I'll understand why it's so hated, but for now I'm loving the game.

It was kinda disappointing. It just feel like a 3rd person shooter from 2003 which is something you wouldn't expect from what the original offer. There is no real reason you use any of your weapons besides your guns. I still dont understand why DANTE WAS CHASEING THE DAMN HELICOPTER AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!? The only cool part …

The only cool part of the game was a the final boss. All the rest you are just shooting all the enemy cause it gave no incentive to use the weapons really and dont even get me started on the lock on system.

"Real videogamers don't skip DMC2." I like DMC2,

well everything surrounding it that isn't the gameplay, I like the artistic direction, it's a really nice recreation of the french villages I grew up in, extremely bleak though, then again, there's not really any dmc game that doesn't have bleak locations.

Gameplay sucks, it's god awful, it's not broken, or outstandingly bad, there's no design questions that makes you go "what were they thinking ???" the issue is more discreet, game's just extremely boring, no feedback, maps that are way too big, enemies that are hell to fight, and weird weapon balance (weaapons are all the same and shoot to win)

I like Lucia though, she's cute, wish she was in a better game

Yeesh, Dante feels like shit to control. I don't know how they took such a massive step down from the previous game on the same hardware like this. It's not that he's not responsive exactly. I think it's a weird combo of camera movement and the speed at which he moves across the screen. It feels terrible. Also what's up with there being like a single sword attack I can use? Maybe I'm missing something with the controls but it feels like I'm locked into the same 3-4 hit combo every time I attack.

I had an idea of this game's reputation going in but didn't think they'd mess up the most basic stuff like this. Gonna keep pushing and see if things get better, but uh, it doesn't look good folks.

Capitolo insolito

Voto: 7/10

Making This Easier Ruins The Game.

I'm actually surprised that by dumbing down the difficulty it can ruin a game. Not the worst game ever made, but easily the worst Devil May Cry game. I'm actually surprised that by dumbing down the difficulty it can ruin a game. Not the worst game ever made, but easily the worst Devil May Cry game. It sacrifices all the style, flair and finesse from the 1st game to implement a few new features that aren't even that useful. Almost every enemy, including bosses, requires the same strategy: sword combo, dodge, sword combo, dodge, etc. and dante's gun is overpowered. Not like the 1st game which actually made you THINK about how to approach each enemy. The combos also feel completely stale compared to the original game, where you basically just spam the triangle button repeatedly then hit circle to dodge. No variation whatsoever, whereas DMC1 had you press different directions for different moves or hold down triangle to charge your attacks. Even the sound effects of the sword slashes aren't nearly as cool as they were in the 1st game. Then there's the stinger attack, which was insanely badass in the original, but now looks like Dante is literally just hopping forward and gently poking his enemies.

Overall its just a very boring game even though i like the artstyle it looks somewhat celshaded, The story, gameplay, music, everything is worse than the first, it's really a disappointment.

What a joke! Can't believe i made myself finish this, every problem you can have with game design, you'll find in this game, i'm highly impressed.

Yes, it's bad. It's really really bad.

And not only because some "mechanics that were good on its day but are obsolete now". Even trying to analyse it like it was 2003 it has serious faults in gameplay, design, plot, narrative and even style.

I've heard that is good for a videogame critic to play "bad" games once in a while in order to really appreciate whate makes a game work and become better at analyzing games.

So... let's start this today.
