I'm struggling with this one. On the one hand, it's stylish and often fun, but on the other hand, the control scheme is so terrible that almost ruins the whole experience and some bosses are so boring. The directional inputs for basic stuff like dodging simply don't work and dante moves like he's stuck in molasses the whole time.

There's bad bosses, but that flying worm thing takes the cake as particularly awful. It feels like the devs put it there as an afterthough to pad out the gameplay a bit.

Then there's the Brothers, who are charming and fun to fight. I like how they can damage each other.

I will be the 1st to admit this game kicked my ass. Like I'm not talking about a normal ass kicking im talking about brutal ass kicking. I got stuck on some parts of the game but overall still had a good time as a big fan of MVC 3 it was nice to see where all the weapons skill came from when it came to this game. IT was also awesome to see that natural progression of it and the only complaints I really have about this game are rectified in the other titles. The Bosses are cool and interesting the art style is fun and The Virgil fight wanted me to slam my head against a wall for 3 hours cause I suck.

I feel like Vergil in DMC3 is better than his later counterparts. Not objectively or anything. I just feel like he fits my personal play style more. That is, efficiency over style. He's more straightforward, he has less moves but they're all fast and damaging. He's seriously an all round destructive machine. To the point and no messing around, yet …

I feel like Vergil in DMC3 is better than his later counterparts. Not objectively or anything. I just feel like he fits my personal play style more. That is, efficiency over style. He's more straightforward, he has less moves but they're all fast and damaging. He's seriously an all round destructive machine. To the point and no messing around, yet balanced enough that playing as him doesn't feel like cheating. DMC5 and DMC4 especially both had versions of vergil that were WAAAAY too broken, so he made the game too easy. I feel like DMC3 is just right. And as I said, he fits my play style more of not messing around and just getting to the point.

What do you guys think?

I feel like replying Devil may cry 3's vergil campaign on dmd right now. I'm in the mood to feel cool playing katana man.

I first tried this game after having a great time with the first DMC during the pandemic, and just wasn’t feeling the style and challenge at the time. Now after returning to it lately I actually do like both of those elements, but feel like the game increasingly feels too long and starts boring me between its bigger fights and cutscenes. I also still don’t really get much enjoyment out of the series’s style-based score play even though I spent time learning more about it outside the game this time to appreciate it from a distance. So I still prefer the baseline Normal mode experience I had with DMC 1 and 5, and still am not really feeling like getting in deep with DMC through multiple playthroughs like you’re clearly supposed to, but at least now I have enjoyed some of the key elements of this one.

My first thought seeing this guy was "What a goofy lookin' fella!" He looks... unfinished? Like probably purposefully, but it's kinda funny.

What a great opening cutscene. This is gonna be a fun one, I can tell. Already died a couple times and I only played the first three missions.

I'm near the end of the game and I have a question.

Is it... 'normal' that Dante has been a complete asshole during all the game?

I remember him being sassy and fun in the first DMC but, DAMN, he's annoying in this one.

Just started this because I don't have Devil May Cry 5.

I'm playing in normal mode and is already kicking my ass.

pretty fun but really rough around the edges. Gave up on the last boss because I found out you had to put all your stats into a very specific weapon/class combo to win (if you don't he heals faster than you can kill him) and I'm unwilling to go back and replay/grind the stats to do that. I think I …

I think I like the first game better overall but this had a lot of ideas I enjoyed and the cut-scenes were beautiful.
