Beat the game but it was one of the hardest games I have ever played. I literally died about every 5 seconds and had to do excessive save state scumming. The controls took a bit of getting used to and I found pressing 2 buttons to shoot diagonally to be awkward, so I mostly shot in the 4 cardinal directions. Would have been much better in arcade with 2 sticks. As if the game was not already overwhelmingly difficult, I gave up trying to survive on the final boss and just used continue after continue. I really don't see how one could ever be expected to deal with near constant barrages of multiple homing projectiles. The lone homing missiles throughout the game killed me more often than not.

Overall the game is too hard and nonsensical to be good. The entire format and level design seems off but I can't really explain why.
