Beat twice. This was the first Fire Emblem that I played, after hearing lots of good things about the series. Within the first 5 minutes of playing I knew the game was a masterpiece. I would have each character carry a variety of weapons so as to save the good ones for tough fights. They would go as far as they could in the arena and at the end of the level I would have everyone march back to the beginning to try the arena again (which was very tedious). I missed quite a few optional characters and ultimate weapons but still managed to get through the game without too much trouble. There were times when I had to save scum. The most annoying part of the game is how cavalry can move, attack, move which meant trying to use a line formation to protect squishies in back seen the enemy gang up on a single character. Very unrealistic. I like the mobility of cavalry but they should not be able to all attack the same unit from the same space.

I liked the game so much that immediately after beating it I played through again. This time using a walkthrough to do everything perfectly. I planned out who would pair with whom; only one messed up and I had to use cheat codes to fix it. Otherwise I played largely the same; I had a better grasp on how to play and made better use of the characters. I did not care how the 2nd lot paired up romantically.
