This is unfortunately a very boring game. Its awkward design means that no matter what you do, it soon becomes repetitive gameplay.

This is unfortunately a very boring game. Its awkward design means that no matter what you do, it soon becomes repetitive gameplay.
Despite the year it was released, the visuals and atmosphere are still good, the mechanics are functional, the hero system is good, but it's all ruined by having a standing army that drifts along a linear campaign.
There's no empire-level management like in Total War games, so the game is extremely static.
You're expected to progress through the entire campaign with the same units that you gradually upgrade, so the game can't put you in a tense situation. Even a single defeat is essentially game over because you don't have the resources to rebuild.
As you slowly move your entire army block forward in the same way in each mission, you're always dealing with a small wave of enemies that you outmaneuver. Add in the fact that ranged weapons have unlimited ammo and you're left with a situation where the game is a tedious crawl.
If you're a fan of Warhammer fantasy, you might still want to give this game a try like I did, but to be honest, there's no need to play Mark of Chaos when you have Total War Warhammer. Total War Warhammer does the gameplay aspect in a much better and more interesting way.
